Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Reviews

After reading many of the first look reviews Enemy Territory: Quake Wars looks like a pretty mediocre title. Get some of my thoughts on the new title in the famed Quake franchise.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars by most accounts looks like a BF2142 ripoff. I didn't like BF2142 so to me that sounds pretty bad. I am a huge BF1942 w/Desert Combat and BF2 fan.I thought Battlefield Vietnam and BF2142 were both horrible. You can imagine that I was disappointed at the way Battlefield 2142 turned out and likewise Enemy Territory is looking like a no go at this point as well.

I decided to wait for Crysis before deciding on which shooter to go to next and I'm pretty glad I did. The highly touted mega textures in Enemy Territory look like they turned out less than thrilling and the models by all accounts are lacking and unrealistic.

Most reviews gave at least some credit to the teamwork aspects of the game. The balance looks to be pretty good and it is said that it requires a variety of classes to take and defend objectives.

Overall Enemy Territory looks like a decent title but I can't see it being much more than that. The same guys that made the Enemy Territory expansion for Return to Castle Wolfenstein made Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and that is definitely not a bonus in my book. More than one reviewer said that it even felt like Return to Castle Wolfenstien. No thanks.

If anyone is playing this in retail please leave some comments and let us know what you think. I hope the game ends up being better than I think.

So you haven't played it, even thought the demo is out and you can get it for free, but you read some reviews, and therefore it sucks?

Good job loser! :)

I opened with "after reading several reviews" and closed with "I hope this game ends up being better than I think it is."

I am playing the demo and I will make a post with my thoughts on it.

No one is playing the game online in the US, the netcode they use is whacked, everyone has to do complex firewall configuration to even be able to browse the game servers, and then once you do get it working, literally, no one is on the servers but bots. F-... last activision game... ever...
